Zoning board continues Gates Pond Road hearing to October 14

Zoning Board · Meeting of September 9, 2026

Berlin Zoning Board continues a Gates Pond Road hearing after site plans conflict on parking and green space. The board voted 5-0 to push the special permit and site plan case to October 14 at 7:30 p.m. after members found the applicant's civil engineer and surveyor had submitted two Mylars that disagreed on whether parking areas were stone or paved. "Either way, you're not compliant," one member said of a setback shortfall on the three-frontage lot.

Separately, the board approved its August 12 minutes 4-0 and a $21.78 office-supply warrant 3-0, and learned a new special permit petition for 79 Pleasant Street, filed September 1, will not get a hearing until November under the town's 60-day review window. Correspondence on that property also referenced roughly $48,000 in potential town fines, which members said is currently stayed by the pending permit filing.
