Board of Assessors · Meeting of May 18, 2026

Berlin's Board of Assessors agreed to correct years of mapping errors on three subdivided Allen Road lots and issue a fiscal 2026 tax abatement. Chair Kevin Pond and member Roger Bradley heard from a presenter identified as Diane, who said one parcel's acreage was listed as 8.65 acres instead of 2.86, and another at 5.65 acres instead of 11.94, after a 2025 subdivision plan was never reflected in town records. Diane said she would issue an abatement of "not even less than $4" on one corrected lot and calculate a separate abatement for a roughly half-acre discrepancy on the others.

Taxpayer Janet, who plans to sell the property, said: "I don't want to be doing this again down the line." The board also reviewed a chapter land inspection at 23 Coburn Road, where staffer Linda Barisha said she found no equestrian or commercial use as previously advertised.
