Berlin Cultural Council Adopts First Grant Rubric
Cultural Council · Meeting of September 17, 2026
Berlin Cultural Council adopts its first grant-scoring rubric and launches a Facebook page. Clerk M.J. Stades presided as temporary chair after Chair Chris Christensen Jr. arrived late, having overslept.
The council found it has been improperly rolling over administrative funds from its Mass Cultural Council grant for years instead of spending the 5 percent allowance within each fiscal year, and voted to spend $82 on 100 stamps to draw down the roughly $105 balance before an October 8 state filing deadline, with a $206.46 interest balance pending further review. Members also approved a new blue council logo and revised a community survey question after 25 responses came back unusable. "We definitely have to offload the administration balance," one member said.
The council's $5,700 fiscal 2027 state allocation will be reviewed for grant awards in November, with final decisions in December.
