Cultural Council Reelects Officers, Adds New Roles
Cultural Council · Meeting of August 21, 2026
Berlin Cultural Council reorganizes, adds outreach roles, updates grant rules. The council voted unanimously to keep Chris Christensen Jr. as chair, with Valerie Clemente Crane continuing as treasurer, M.J. Stades as clerk, and new volunteer Mickey Patterson taking on outreach, web and data-tracking duties.
Stades opened the meeting as acting chair after Christensen initially thought the session started at 7:30 p.m. rather than 5:30. The treasurer reported $4,075 in encumbered grant funds and just $2.20 in interest earned on the council's account. Members voted to add "science" to the categories eligible for its roughly $1,500 annual town grant and state-funded awards, and tabled a proposal letting the treasurer sign reimbursement forms alone.
The council will shift to monthly meetings, reconvening September 17 at 7:30 p.m.
