Berlin Board Approves Liquor License Pledge, OKs Lighting
Select Board · Meeting of October 5, 2026
Berlin Select Board advances a bill to grow from three to five members, while clearing a stack of local licensing items. Town Administrator Mike told the board a home rule petition adding a recall bylaw and expanding the board has passed both the Massachusetts Senate and House, though differing language must be reconciled before it reaches the governor. Members unanimously approved a pledge of liquor license as loan collateral for X-Golf Hudson LLC's 6,300-square-foot, nine-simulator expansion at 48 Highland Commons, authorized Berlin Lions Club holiday lighting through January 3, 2027, and approved a library-sponsored Halloween event contingent on completed paperwork.
Clerk Margaret "Peg" Stone said she wants board conduct policies to spell out a "plan B to get around the chair." The board tabled action on a 1952 flagpole pending a free safety assessment and set a tax rate hearing for November 2.
