Select Board Advances $198,000 Levy Increase

Select Board · Meeting of September 14, 2026

Berlin Select Board advances a $198,000 tax-levy increase in a fall warrant review. Chair Lisa J. Wysocki's board unanimously approved an affordable-housing unit swap at the Rockwell and shifted $20,000 in ARPA funds from the stalled Bullard House project to old fire and EMS building demolition before joining the Finance Committee to vet warrant articles.

Staff outlined $105,000 in staffing fixes, including a $32,000 fire union contract and a $20,000 highway union contract, plus $93,000 in rising fuel, legal and IT costs. A $170,000 septic and water-line article for the 1870 House and First Parish Church was tabled after Finance Committee member Steve pressed officials to document the estimate, with Vice Chair Carolyn MacDonald noting "the purchase of lot six has become far more complicated than originally anticipated." The Finance Committee votes recommendations September 23.
