Berlin Select Board approves $8,800 building inspector payroll transfer at June meeting
BERLIN — June 1, 2026 — Berlin Select Board approves $8,800 payroll transfer and updates public comment policy. The two-member board, Peg Stone and a member identified as McDonald, voted unanimously on all items at the June 1 session, including a line item transfer of $8,800 from a Chapter 32B insurance account to building inspector payroll, needed after the town was required to pay out accrued vacation to a retiring inspector. The board also adopted revised public comment rules explicitly limiting speakers to Berlin residents, Berlin businesses, town employees, and employees or School Committee members from the Berlin-Boylston Regional School District and the Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Technical School. A consent agenda covered a Community Preservation Act funding agreement letter for the town clock project and a special event permit for Berlin-Boylston United Youth Soccer's June 12 end-of-season celebration at South Commons. The interim town administrator announced a vacancy on the Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Technical School committee, with letters of interest due June 10 and a joint appointment process targeting the June 15 Select Board meeting.
