The board consulted by phone Friday with Joe Shaughnessy of Trident Environmental Services, learning that Berlin falls in a pricing category carrying a current minimum contract charge of $7,100 — expected to rise to roughly $8,000 after July 1 — with per-car-load fees of $90 for a full load, $55 for a half load, and $39 for a small load under the state contract. The town has not held such an event in several years; transfer station manager Stan said he fields resident requests "at least twice a week" and expressed confidence that turnout would exceed 100 vehicles.
