Berlin Previews Warrant Ahead of Town Meeting

Select Board · Meeting of April 23, 2026

Berlin's Select Board previewed the warrant ahead of the May 4 Town Meeting. The board walked residents through 27 articles with no votes taken, including a $162,000 gap between the Finance Committee and the Berlin-Boylston Regional School Committee over the school budget. Superintendent Al Ginn said rejecting the school committee's $9,911,633 figure would force another town meeting in both Berlin and Boylston, warning "anything besides that number... would result in reduction to staff." Finance Committee member Scott Schultz said residents could still move to amend the figure from the floor.

Select Board member Carolyn MacDonald detailed a $40,200 request to reopen trails at the Clark Conservation Area, closed since an F1 tornado hit the property last September. Fire Chief Mike pitched $72,000 to train department paramedics, citing regional shortages and about $60,000 a year the town spends on outside paramedic services.
