Berlin's Select Board approved a renewed cable license with Spectrum/Charter, raising the company's town payment to the legal cap of 5 percent of gross revenues. The board closed a required public hearing with no public comment, then voted unanimously to execute the license effective May 5, 2026. Charter's representative, Nancy Clark, confirmed the company has up to 12 months to survey wiring and restore a third local public-access channel that had lapsed when Boylston stopped sharing its channel.
The deal also adds the town administrator's office as a third site getting free cable service. "It's the maximum permitted by law," negotiator Bill told the board of the 5 percent cap. The board separately renewed a junk dealer license for Berlin Auto Parts and presented outgoing member Scott a certificate for his service from 2020 to 2026.
