Select Board · Meeting of May 12, 2026
Berlin Select Board approved a regional building inspection deal and a historical storage agreement with a 90-day check-in. The board voted unanimously to share a building commissioner and inspectors with Boylston, West Boylston and Sterling for $73,000 a year, replacing a retired full-time commissioner. Members Lisa J. Wysocki and Carolyn MacDonald clashed over vague storage language for the town's historical collection, with Wysocki saying she is "not comfortable at all to find any other long-term storage solution" and MacDonald pushing for "an update in six months." The board amended the agreement to require a status check within 90 days.
Members also approved 2026 Rockwell Apartments rents, including $1,943 for a one-bedroom at 80 percent area median income, adopted the fiscal 2027 meeting calendar and accepted five donated laptops for the fire department.
