BERLIN — The Berlin Historical Commission decided to hold a special meeting September 4 to vote on committing $28,000 toward an architectural assessment of the town-owned Bullard House. Custodian Barry Eager presented an updated preservation plan, and member June Miller detailed proposed updates to the town's collection management policy, including the role of the Berlin Historical Society. Select Board liaison Lisa Wysocki pushed against further delay, warning "every year that goes by it is going to cost more." The commission separately voted 2-0, with one abstention, to reimburse Miller $55.18 for archival supplies and skunk-remediation materials at the Bullard House.
Members also discussed a $1 million grant, secured through the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission, to remove the South Berlin Mill Pond dam, and said they hope to preserve a stretch of the old mill race.
