Historical Commission · Meeting of June 12, 2026

BERLIN — The Berlin Historical Commission voted to have Chair June Miller consult an outside planning firm on whether to renovate the town-owned Bullard House in phases or as one project. Custodian Barry Eager and Clerk Eleanor Bergen joined Miller in weighing a proposal to move the building out of town ownership into a nonprofit structure, with Miller calling a single large funding request "political suicide." The commission reported more than $150,000 in unspent Community Preservation Act funds earmarked for the Bullard House and a separate $30,000 CPA allocation for architectural costs. Members also approved spending the remaining $288.26 budget on printer cartridges and discussed the select board's concerns over furniture stored off-site at a building called Village Power, which Eager said is "not valuable to anybody but us" financially but historically significant.
