BERLIN — The Berlin Historical Commission voted unanimously to spend $28,500 in Community Preservation Act funds on a conditions assessment of the Bullard House. Chair June Miller, Clerk Eleanor Bergen and member Barry Eager approved hiring SSV Architects, led by principal Jerry Sullivan, drawing from a $96,000 account voters approved under Article 22 in 2021. Members said the study will not produce construction-ready plans, only a cost baseline that would have to go into a future Town Meeting warrant article.
Separately, the commission is drafting a Community Preservation Act grant request, due October 31, to conserve several historic textiles, including items tied to the Bullard House's original owner, with a 50 percent deposit required once a conservator's estimate is accepted.
