Historical Commission · Meeting of April 10, 2026

Berlin Historical Commission voted to return $1,300 in unused CPA grant funds and pushed to preserve part of the Wheeler Pond Dam amid state removal plans. Chair June Miller said she would contact OARS representative Heather Conkerton "to reiterate that we want a physical reminder of that" as the dam removal project advances toward grant applications. Custodian of the Town Historical Collection Barry Eager recalled watching water run over the dam "in three or four or five places" during spring flooding, adding residents are "scared to death that they're just going to let go." The commission is also overseeing a $90,000 CPA-funded foundation repointing project at a town historic building and plans a May 6 fabric giveaway limited initially to Berlin residents.

Eager reported pulling 125 photographs from house files for digitization by volunteer Stan Smith.
